Introduction
“Encoded” does not always mean “accepted by the door.” A lock model, encoder version, key set, room permission, or card construction can be the mismatch. The site lists 13.56 MHz, ISO14443A, MIFARE, and several lock brands, but a purchase must still identify the exact system and test room.
The PMS creates a permission, the encoder writes it, and the lock validates the key, application, and time window. A completed encoder message can therefore coexist with a rejected card. DESFire EV3 features such as AES, DES/3DES, SUN message authentication, and Transaction Timer describe security capability, not universal lock support.

MIFARE suits a system that explicitly supports it. DESFire EV3 can fit a higher-security design but needs joint key and platform work. PVC is practical for high-volume issuance; wood or composite cards require thickness, moisture, and antenna tests. New builds, upgrades, and chain replenishment each need a separate acceptance path.
Pilot with sample cards, encode them on the hotel’s equipment, test every room workflow, cancel and replace a lost card, run durability checks, and archive the signed evidence before mass production.
Keep verified spares by property or building. Test software or key changes in a room before a zone migration. Record room, batch, encoder, lock log, and battery status for complaints.
